Kai Korero: A Cook Islands Maori Coursebook
Published in Paperback by University of Hawaii Press (October, 1996)
Average review score:

A good introductionThis is a very good introduction to Cook Islands Maori. Each point is simply explained, with lots of examples. You won't be fluent in Maori, but you can hold simple conversations. If you buy the tapes as well, it's the next best thing to being in Rarotonga, except you don't get the beaches and the food.

Good book about the waterways of Puget Sound.Lots of good trips, lots of tips about timing your trip with the tides for a more enjoyable and safe trip. Good list of saftey tips. No book is a subsitute for experience but with this on you are less likely to get into trouble. King Island Christmas
Published in Hardcover by William Morrow (October, 1985)
Average review score:

The story of an Eskimo island's ChristmasIn addition to being a wonderful neighbor, Jean Rogers is an incredible writer of children's books. This book transports the reader (of any age) to a world which, for most of us, is just a far-off land. It welcomes us to the beauty of Eskimo customs and celebrations, and warms the heart with the Christmas spirit. It is a definite must-buy for parents or friends of children who will grow up sensitive to the world around them

A Kitchen in Corfu
Published in Hardcover by New Amsterdam Books (01 January, 1990)
Average review score:

A wonderful surpriseThis is absolutely a wonderful book. It does an excellent job in depicting the life, culture, and history of rural Corfu. The food recipes are wonderful. However, I have to emphasize that this is not just another recipe book. It is more of an inside look into the life of rural Corfu.

Kwaio Religion
Published in Paperback by Columbia University Press (15 April, 1982)
Average review score:

An Interesting Read!!I read this book several years ago for a class on "Magic, Witchcraft and Religion" at Wichita State University. Though it's written on the doctoral level, I was able to get a goodly amount of valuable information concerning this ancient tribe from a third-world country. It gracefully lines out the reasons for the failure of the Christian Model to take hold with this people. It is interesting to note that the Kwaio remain a happy and vibrant people with a rich spiritual heritage of their own. To spoil that with Christian ideology would be a travesty.

L' Ile Fantastique: Fantastic Island ((First Bilingual Readers Ser.))
Published in Library Binding by Edu Dev (March, 1996)
Average review score:

bilingual fluencyThis Usborne text is an excellent, active pictoral reader for early elementary school children who have learned some French and corresponding English words and want to master the transition in a fun and lively way. Even adults will find this colorful reader 'tres amusant' and helpful to develop better fluency. Also ideal for an early middle school child who is just starting to learn either French or English, and is fluent in the other. Will be read over and over again and passed down as a reading treasure.
